  • Access Training Sheffield

Recently had my 2 week practical training with Access Training in Sheffield. I had John Burton as my practical training instructor, he was very friendly, understanding and down to earth, with a wealth of knowledge and experiences. He explained things in a way that made more sense than the webinars and made me understand easily the reasons behind testing and its importance, this really helped build my confidence when using the MFT and fault finding. Any time I was unsure about something, he'd run through it without hesitation and make sure I properly understood. he gave everyone the time they needed, and even let us go back over things when we had the time to, this created a really supportive environment to learn in.

Your questions answered

Looking for a traditional electrician apprenticeship? Our Earn While You Learn route gives you the same qualifications and Gold Card outcome.

Our fast-track electrician course is self-paced, so the timeline is genuinely in your hands. Some students get qualified in a matter of months by going hard; others spread it out over a year or more. You won't be expected to book your practical assessments until you feel ready. If you're motivated and have the time, you can move quickly without cutting corners.

The theory part of your course is delivered fully online through Access Training Online, with live and recorded classes you can fit around work. The practical training and assessments take place in person at one of our training centres, because hands-on competence has to be demonstrated on real installations.

Course fees depend on the package you choose and how far you want to take your qualifications. We offer flexible monthly payment plans, so you can spread the cost of your training rather than paying everything up front. Speak to our team for a personalised quote.

An apprenticeship means working for an employer on a training wage and usually takes around four years. A private course with Access Training is self-paced, so you can qualify much faster and fit training around your current job — and you finish with the same recognised qualifications.

Yes. Our flexible monthly payment plans are designed to make training affordable, and you can keep earning in your current job while you study. Talk to our team and we'll find a plan that works for your budget.

Absolutely. There are no formal entry requirements for our electrician courses, and our tutors support you at every step. Your motivation and practical ability matter far more than old exam results.

Many of our students speak English as a second language and complete their training successfully. Tutors explain everything clearly, classes are recorded so you can rewatch them, and you can always ask questions until things make sense.

That's up to you — the course is self-paced. Some students study a couple of hours in the evening, others treat it like a full-time commitment. Live classes are recorded too, so you never fall behind if you miss one.

A Career Support Officer works with you from day one, and support continues for three years after you qualify. That includes CV help, interview preparation, exclusive job opportunities, and guidance on setting up your own business.

Yes — practical, hands-on training is at the heart of every course. After the online theory, you'll spend time in our fully equipped training centres working on real installations with expert tutors beside you.

You get three years of access to Access Training Online, so you can revisit classes, resources, and tests whenever you need. That's plenty of time to complete your training at your own pace.
